Hi all, I was thinking of purchasing the 12% minoxidil gel from Community Drug but before I did, I was wondering if there are any people out there who have used the gel. 1. Is there any significant advantage using the minoxidil gel as opposed to the minoxidil solution? (I haven't heard of a 12% minoxidil solution but I could be wrong.) 2. Has the 12% concentration of minoxidil helped anyone more than any of the lesser concentrated minoxidil solutions? (i.e. 5% minoxidil solution with retinoic acid) 3. Does the 12% gel cause any irritation and have people seen signficant regrowth with the 12% gel? Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: Questions about 12% Minoxidil gel I prefer the 10% solution they make over the gel. I've used the gel but it is hard to get to areas where you have hair or a fair amount of it. I didn't see much of an improvement vs. the 10%. I continue to use 15% at the hair line and 10% on the crown. I never noticed any irritation.EricV said: Hi all, I was thinking of purchasing the 12% minoxidil gel from Community Drug but before I did, I was wondering if there are any people out there who have used the gel. 1. Re: Questions about 12% Minoxidil gel As I stated above I use the Minoxidil 15% cream on my hair line and 10% solution on my crown. I let the 15% cream "soak" in before I apply 10% Topical Spironalactone cream onto my hair line. Minoxidil has helped me maintain what I have for several years now. Any regrowth I more attribute to anti-androgens + minoxidil. The combination just makes sense.Kim said: Soul, You seem to be using some strong stuff and appear often. Re: Questions about 12% Minoxidil gel When you make reference to the "10% solution" are you refering to 10% minoxidil or 10% spironolactone? From what I understand minoxidil in solution reaches it's peak of solubility at 5%, any higher has to be put into a cream or lotion. So I would assume that the 10% solution is the spiro, but later you say that you use a "10% topical spironolactone cream", so it can't be that either. Please explain. Thanks Jon Burrows said: Soul said: As I stated above I use the Minoxidil 15% cream on my hair line and 10% solution on my crown. Thank you, Jon To whom it may concern: I think the message got screwed up. I was asking Soul about topical Spironolactone. I am going to add it to my regimen. As far as what I am using, yes, my doctor makes his own 10% solution (Minoxidil). He is the only doctor I know of that is able to do this without putting it into a gel or cream base. I use a lot more than 10% minoxidil in my program, but I can't recall anyone else that has done this. I want to thank Soul for his advice on topical Spironolactone,. I hope this settles the misunderstanding. Sincerely, Jon

Re: Questions about 12% Minoxidil gel Community Drug Pharmacy can make 10% Minoxidil in a solution form. Anything higher than that (i.e. 12.5%) they do in a gel and (15%) they do in a cream.I have the 10% Spiro. made up in a cream base. Hope this helps.
