Actually, it was at about the one year mark that I had the most regrowth from Propecia, after that it maintained my hair, although I lost all the regrowth when I used Rogaine for six months a couple years later. After quitting Rogaine the Propecia maintained my hair for the nine years, but it does lose effectiveness at about the ten year mark. I just switched to Avodart, actually.

ive been on propecia / fin for bout 8 months and in all honesty, its great to thicken up any thinning of your crown, and this was evident after 5 months really.... however, it does absolutely nothing for the frontal lobes of your scalp, and if anything for me, hightened the hair loss of my frontal lobes significantly, so id only recommend this for anyone who only has hair loss of the crown area

my experience was that I had the regrowth in the crown but it also did maintain my frontal area.

I used propecia non stop for seven eight years and had great results the first seven. it slowly started to lose effectiveness starting at year seven. At year 8.5 I stopped for about four to six months and experienced accelerated loss. I started again but never regained what was lost during the rest period. I am now on .5mg and still slowly losing ground. I've read that Propecia should be stopped if it has lost it's ability to maintain and at that point may actually be aggravating the loss.
What are your thoughts on this? Has anyone else experienced increased loss after long term use? By the way, I was also on Dr. Lee's Xandrox 5% with Retina A for the first 8 years. I recently tried Spectral.DNC but it caused a shed, which prompted me to stop. I get spooked easily when it comes to hair loss. These little protein strands are very important to me. Sad, I know.

My best results were after 12-15mths. Noticeable thickening after 3-4mths, regrowth after 4-6mths. But the regrowth really kicked in after 12mths, very noticeable. However my natural balding rate without treatment would have been very slow.

I've been on Proscar for over 11 years. It worked great until the last year when I started losing hair again. I just made the switch to Adovart...

Gimme Poontang - How is Avodart working for you? Any sides? Most of my thinning is at the hairline, temples and mid-section. How about you, and if so, is Avodart helping you thicken up those areas?
