Should I stop using Rogaine? Hi everyone,I've been using Rogaine for about 5 months now and have noticed minimal results (only a few new hairs on the forehead). Would you recommend I stop or continue using it? Thanks

It's up to you Acerman. I used Rogaine for about 5 months too and got the same results as you (a few new hairs right under my hairline). Personally though, I hate the stuff, I hate the way it smells, the way it feels and just hated applying it. What really got to me though was the idea that I would have to be using it EVERYDAY for the REST OF MY LIFE to maintain a few scrawny, unnatural looking hairs at my hairline. I threw it out and don't regret it. But again, it's up to you.

I used minox for 7 months (Rogaine for about the last 2) and then stopped because I felt it impacted my hair very little, if at all. Also, I just don't like the idea using any hardcore chemical for years on end. Some people have claimed to have had great success for 10+ years, but I've also heard stories of otherwise healthy guys (after years of using minox) having to go to the hospital with heart palpitations or severe water retention. IMO, Rogaine is becoming a treatment of the past, and there are much better options out there. That's just me though. To really see the full effect of any treatment you need to wait at least a year, so if you're willing to use the stuff forever, maybe you should stick it out until then. Ultimately it's your decision.

Yes i would stop it, Not only is it bad for your skin, heart etc etc, but after a year or two those hairs that were dependent on rogaine will be very thin and or fall out. Id much rather shave my damn head then use rogaine everyday

As with most things that go into your body (either via mouth or absorbed), different substances affect different people in different ways. Some people take propecia for years and have no problems with it. Others have major side effects after a couple of months. Same with Rogaine. Some people get great results from it and have none of the problems you mentioned and others receive little or no benefit from using it, and have rapid heartbeat or something other effect. As with most things you have to see how it affects YOU and then decide if any treatment option is worth continuing.

I think rogaine gets a bad rap on this board.. Its not a "magic bullet" and it cant "bring back the dead", at best it really, REALLY slows down MPB. I started it in 1994(before it was over the counter.. so remember that my hairloss was so rapid that my dr. agreed to give me this stuff). My DR. told me to only expect to keep what I had, which sounded good enough because I was 19 and horrified. I did get some regrowth on the crown and on the top, but for the most part it just keeped the hair I had... Well, im much older now and guess what.. I still have most of my hair.. AFTER 15 YEARS!!! and yes, I've tried fin. and dut. off and on, I used nizirol and biotin(yes i need to try lasers.. is that comb any good?), but rogaine has been the corner stone of my treatment.. Bottom line is people bad mouth this stuff because they expect it to do something it cant do. YOU MOST START this ASAP and commit(9 months at least) and it will help. cheers, brothers!

I for one will choose to live without it and the horrible shedding it causes. I lived through it once but you won't catch me twice.
