Avodart vs Generic? Making the switch from proscar. Hey guys, Been on proscar for 10 years. I am 34 now and still have full coverage but continue to thin. Want to switch to Avodart or a generic but have read a few postings that said the generics are not as good. Not sure if that is true. Which generics are good? Any good pharmacy suggestions. Dosage etc?Would also like to hear your experiences switching from proscar. Thanks

I use Dutagen from United Pharmacies. They have a few different generic versions available, and of course, real Avodart, if you're not on any budget. Dutagen is the least expensive at a dollar a pill(softgel).
I take one a day. Been on it about three years now. Not impressed with the results, as I'm still slowly losing hair. I was on Propecia for three years before switching to Dut. Wasn't getting the results I was looking for with that either.

i was in mexico & got some, real avodart, wasn't any cheaper than here, got a 2 month supply. I used it often over a few year period, but not non-stop. After 2 months i was like wow! that put a dent in the damage, also got the generic after i ran out from united. Hard to notice a fall off, after only a month on generic? But theres no doubt the regular stuff kicks ass! For me anyway, it varys from person to person. I'm thinking of using the real stuff, & the generic just altering every other month to save some $$. If your making the switch, i'd use the real stuff for 2 months then move to generic. This will really create a bona fide "jumpstart" you want. The stuff works, better than any topical stuff you'll ever track down. In combination it's outstanding!!

I'm not sure if the generic is as good as Avodart. I wish I knew. They say it's comparable to Avodart, but who knows. If you try the Avodart, let me know how it works for you.

Cool man will do. Seems like it works for some and not others. Have either of you had any sides? Or has it increased the loss at all? thanks

i noticed no side effects at all..nothing. some people report "alot" of shedding. i got buzzed hair and noticed nothing, i suspect personally that that if you start with the real stuff, you can maintain the flow, with generic. but if you start out generic, your results seemed to take longer to acheive. like i stated, i noticed very solid results after 2 months. (with buzzed hair) so i could see it's results easily. but if you get off it, you'll lose any results in about 3 months off it// thats why i needed to start over. ideally if you could afford it i use the generic just to maintain.. i don't think you need the real stuff for that long, it worked pretty fast with me, i also use spectral dnc, too, in addition to aculas laser therapy. but nothing kicked started "instant" results like avodart. (the mexico stuff, is the same as american, & just as expensive). personally i liked the dutas///generic, but i haven't used them all only about 3 different ones, they must vary though..no doubt.

Hey thanks moj, so where did it fill in with you? That's great that it has been working. How much u think u got back? I also use Dr Lee's 15% xandrox. I just ordered a new release. They now have a plus version with finasteride in it. Dr Lee is supposed to have the best stuff out there, but I have not seen any regrowth using it all these years. Perhaps it slowed it down a bit
