Finasteride Induces Depression! Studies I've taken dutasteride long enough now to recognize that when I take it everyday for a period of a few weeks, my depression and anxiety are through the roof! At which time I usually break from it to regain my sanity and desire to live (semi-kidding) and then take it every few days again until I start tripping on my hair loss bad enough to pop them everyday. (repeat cycle!) FYI, I am already prone to depression and anxiety. I've got to get off this shit! Has anyone else noticed any mental effects from Propecia or Avodart?Rahimi-Ardabili B, Pourandarjani R, Habibollahi P, Mualeki A. Finasteride induced depression: a prospective study. What is interesting is that the first study: Fin Induced Depression, It describes the physiology (mechanism) by which the drug actually causes an increase in depression and anxiety as opposed to just reporting an incidence of increased depression.

Finasteride does have many sides like that,i find that sometimes i have some really low days but them i'm back feeling good the next day. just like yourself, i went off it for 7 months and found that i really felt like shit fo some months, but then i felt great like never before, but then you see how bad your hair thins out,and your back where you started. look it does keep your hair, but does have many untold sides that you have to think do you want to use this drug or just give up hope, because it is one of the only things that works.

Yep. I suffer from severe depression too. When I quit fin, my depression lifted, and I didn't have near as many deep or dark days. But then the hair starts falling, and you go back on it. I guess I'd rather have what hair I have left and deal with the depression. Although some days I don't know if I'm going to make it.

Does having a limp dick when you see your girlfriend naked contribute to the depression?? The fact that what makes you a MAN isn't making you a MAN anymore??? Fin fucked me up, and I honestly believe that after 1.5 years off of it, that I am still experiencing some repurcussions...

Fin suxs yes... but I believe that because type 1 DHT is more present in the brain, that Dutasteride (Avodart) is a lot worse mentally! Crazy, The sexual sides I've actually gotten over for the most part somehow. The anxiety and depression are almost completely unrelated for me. I was thinking about going back to finasteride after all this time, but my hair is still slowly receding on DUTASTERIDE and finasteride never was that effectice for me so I can't bring myself to do it just yet.

Is it a chemical in the drug that causes depression or is it the effect that causes depression? Because if it is the effects then all the natural supplements that ppl take to reproduce the effects of the drug the are as dangerous even though they are deemed natural.

It IS the actual drug DIRECTLY! They explain the whole physiology of it in the first article I linked to. It is NOT a indirect depression due to other side effects It is caused directly via hormones and neurotransmitter function in the brain.

so your saying there is a chemical in the drug which they found causes depression. Trying to duplicate its effect with naturals will not case depressions or side effects correct?
