Nizoral too strong. P.O. shampoos? I've been using Revita and Nizoral but I think I'm going to have to stop, due to the side effects from the ketoconazole. I've noticed that these shampoos, especially Nizoral, are very strong. When I first started using Nizoral I would get headaches, which only lasted for a couple of days, but it has also caused me minor pain and burning in my penis and, I believe, impotence. However, I have read on these forums that some of you use P.O. shampoos saying that, if I recall correctly, they were just as helpful. I did a search but couldn't find any info. Can anybody tell me what P.O. stands for and if they actually do help? Also, would they cause similar side effects as shampoos with ketoconazole? Thanks.

Why are these so hard to find in the U.S? The only one I found is Body Shop's Ginger anti-dandruff shampoo. Now this may sound stupid, but this shampoo contains honey, which is a high glycemic food. Can this shampoo be absorbed into your blood stream like Nizoral?

I dont think Nizoral shampoo is absorbed systemically...that much. Consider this study used a cream which was left on all day vs contact time of a keto shampoo. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=2144249&ordinalpos=15&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=3280211&ordinalpos=17&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum

Piroctone olamine doesnt effect reproductive functions so its hair growth likely isnt coming from some antiandrogenic pathway

likely this is a mental thing going on...it happens when your conscious of something to an extreme and you'd be surprised by the power of the mind over the body when you're convinced something is wrong. I think nizoral shampoo, left on for a couple minutes, is likely doing nothing to your body.

Thanks for all of the info guys. As far as it being all mental? Who knows? It doesn't seem to be be, however, I wouldn't put it pass me. But either way, I would like to play it safe. Unfortunately, I can not find any place that sells these shampoos in the U.S, other than the Body Shop website, and that honey thing has me paranoid. Any suggestions?

so its side effects should be less than keto which I think are minimal at best) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=2019350&ordinalpos=8&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum
