Rogaine Foam Causing Transplanted Hair To Shed

about 2 months ago i decided to start using rogaine foam on my crown area and have seen a very nice improvement..at about the same time i also decided to try the foam in the front area of my scalp where i have had transplanted hair..i hoped i might get the area to thicken up..i was aware that rogaine doesnt think you should use the foam anywhere but the crown area but i was willing to try anyways..

well in the past 2 months i have found that not only hasnt the front area where i have transplanted hair thickened up but just the opposite..it has actually thinned out..it would seem that i have lost transplanted hair..i never thought the foam would cause there to be hair loss..

im really not sure what is happening here..i havent lost any hair in the crown area..

as i understand you can have a shed when you start using rogaine foam but i never had one in the crown area..so would anyone know if the transplnated hair that has fallen out is due to shedding and will it grow back soon..should i continue using the foam in the front area or stop using it there?

the one thing that concerns me most is that the transplanted hair that has fallen out may never grow back..

Maybe you should try essential oils, by massaging them into your scalp. This can only help.

I suppose you won't know if ur going to get any regrowth unless you wait another couple of months of more. Are you getting any irritation in the frontal area? It might me worth also using copper peptides if you can afford it.

Were you using the Rogaine liquid before the foam? I've used both, and I currently use the foam, but I am using the liquid on the frontal area where i have had success with it. I did not have as much success up front with the foam.

Re: Rogaine Foam Causing Transplanted Hair To Shed

What are people's opinion of using Retin-A before the Rogaine. I'v read how people apply Retin-A, then let it dry for 15 minutes. Then put on the Rogaine. Some people have said this increases the absorption of Rogaine on the hair. Whats people's opinion of the Retin-A. Does it help Rogaine or it really doesn't?

Not to be too insulting, but have you ever read anything about minox??? When you first use this medication you will experience an increased shed of your hair...this is normal and part of the process...as for your transplanted hair, unless it is recently transplanted, there is NO HARM in using minox on transplanted hair. What hair you are losing is probably the non-transplanted hair which you were going to lose anyway.

This is something your Doctor should have explained to you.

Re:

hm2000 has everything covered. Can't believe people dont read up on the drugs they are using.

Shedding is a GOOD sign you are having a positive reaction to the drug.

Goldylocks what are you talking about? Essential oils??? I bet your bald.
