nizoral vs. head and shoulders

Is there any reason to use nizoral over head and shoulders? i see that nizoral is much more expensive. does it do anything that head and shoulders won't? is it just a dandruff shampoo, or does it work for hair loss too?

the active ingredient in h&s is pyrithione zinc which is an ok antifungal. studies done comparing zinc and ketoconazole showed that nizoral reduces sebum production in the scalp, while h&s does not. now, scam artist hair growth products claim that "sebum colgs the folicle and blocks the hair from growing" which is a load of crap- ever had an ingrown hair? a hair can grow straight through 10 layers of skin easily, so oily, gooey sebum cant block anything! the problem with sebum is that it is an excellent food source for bacteria and and fungi that can spill over into the hair folicle and cause more inflamation. and most all scientific and university studies have found large amounts of bacteria, fungi, and white blood cells at the root of a mpb ravaged hair shaft. also ketoconazol has antiandrogenic properties that are documented by the company that actually produces the stuff and h&s does not.

without a doubt- body builders who take steroids and are prone to early mpb have sworn by this stuff for years before the rogaine and propecia craze. it even has a university study showing that even when used alone it can increase the diameter of mpb ravaged hairs.

The over-the-counter Nizoral (which I believe is 1%) says to use it twice a week for dandruff control. Do you use it more often for hair loss? Also has the OTC Nizoral been shown to be effective or only the 2% prescription?
