Is minoxidil supposed to have a stinging or burning feeling? I've been on Revivogen for 2 months with no problems and I just started using Minoxidil as well, but I've noticed a burning/stinging in the areas I use it on. Is this normal or not?

What kind of minoxidil are you using? Some of the brands which have tretinoin in them will cause a burning sensation.

It's common.

So should I continue use of it? This isn't going to damage my scalp is it?

I've been using Minoxidil for almost 4 years, with excellent results. The stinging, tingling, burning feeling during, and for a little while after application, is nornal and common. Only you can decide if you should continue to use Minoxidil. But, if I were you, I'd continue, barring adverse side effects, i.e., major scalp irration!

Sandman, Are you using it on the hairline or in the back? I'm fine in the back and about a norwood 2 in the front. Do you think I'll have any success in the front?

Same as you, I never had any thinning in the back. I had mild thinning throughout the top as well as mild frontal recession. Minoxidil has worked great for me throughout my entire scalp including the frontal areas. It may well work on the front for you too! I use Dr. Lee's 5% with Retin-A which may be more effective. If 5% doesn't work for you on the frontal areas, you may wish to look into some higher strength Minoxidil solutions. Dr. Lee, www.minoxidil.com, offers some and they can also be found elsewhere.

Be very careful when combining Revivogen and Rogaine. I tried a similar approach a few months ago with bad results. I started with the Revivogen, used it for a couple months then introduced Rogaine. I initially noticed a burning feeling in some spots from the Rogaine but continued to use anyway. I was applying both treatments to the temporal area or front of the scalp. What wound up happening was the Rogaine started drying out my scalp (flaking and chunks of dried skin) and the Revivogen was actually staining the dried areas orange. My scalp was orange and in the shape of the area I was applying the products. I keep my hair cropped very close (1/8 - 1/16 with clippers) and you could clearly see where I was applying the treatments. So much for discretion huh? Ha! I have since abandoned both products and have gone the route of Propecia. I figure if that doesn't work... then, oh well. I've been on Propecia for a little over a month with no side effects to report. I don't have any progress to report either, but it is way too early in the treatment for that.

A-town, Yeah, that is what happened the first week I was on it. My scalp started flaking and I could see where it was orange, but my hair is about 2 inches long and I wear it kinda messy so it's not noticeable. I think I'm going to stick with it though, especially the Revivogen because my hairline seems to be fuller and I'll see how the minoxidil treats my scalp for the next few weeks. Hopefully it gets better. Thanks.

Put some aloe vera on your scalp after applying treatments.
