Re: WE NEED AVODART USERS TO SPEAK UP We are here, this is a good board but there are many that have been taking avodart since it was available that hang out at http://www.hairsite.com/o-alpha.htm .To make a long story short, the best way to get a hold of the stuff is by online consult via www.medicalwellnesscenter.com , you pay $50 for a consultation and they mail you a script for 30 pills and 6 refills for a total of 7 months. You can take the script to a local pharmacy. I took mine to Sam's Club and paid $72 for 30 pills. Some people are having success using their insurance although I think this is a little below board since it should only be covered by insurance for prostate issues. I did get questioned by the pharmacist about the purpose for me using it since I am 32 he thought I was a little young for BPH. I told him it was written off label to try for hairloss and he said "ok, I can see it is much like proscar" and everything went well. Today is my 12th day. To early to talk about results but I am hoping for some regrowth. I love not having to split proscar tabs anymore. I have had no side effects. Sexual function is fine. Maybe less ejaculate volume, no signs of gyno, etc. I had taken proscar 1.25 mg for 4 years and it had halted hairloss. I think if you had no sides with proscar/propecia you will probably be just fine on avodart. I have big hopes but won't really try to evaluate until 6 months on. At $70 per month it is reasonable to try the stuff. In 2 more days my DHT should be reduced by 90%, way more than 1.25 mg of proscar could do and type one will be reduces for the first time. I am hearing so many negative things on boards but I am not dicouraged. I hope this is the next best thing that helps us all until something better comes through the FDA in a few years. Peace.

Re: WE NEED AVODART USERS TO SPEAK UP Whats up Baldies...As I've mentioned in earlier posts..been on Proscar 5mg once a day for the past 10 years! Starting 2 weeks ago I added Avodart 0.5mg once a day to the routine....now..I take One Proscar 5mg in the morning...and One Avodart at night...every day. Plus..I now use the Laser Comb 2 to 3 times a week. I'm trying to get away from all the topical stuff like High concentration Minoxidil and Azelaic acid etc....it works but just too messy! Only side effect is a litle groin ache once and a while. Someone asked me do I have any kids? The answer is YES..one boy and one girl...both were conceived while on Proscar. No worries there!

For whom it may concern, Avodart and Proscar should not be used in tandom. Together that is. Not because it is a danger but because they work antagonistically towards each other. In other words they cancel one another out to some degree. We do not know exactly how much but it is a fact that is inherent to this class of chemicals. It would be a terrible waste. DSC

Been on it for almost two years without side effects. I have seen some regrowth in the front and moderate regrowth in the back. My Doctor prescribed it for me.
